In my latest article I quoted some statements from T. Austin Sparks regarding a life here on earth without being touched by the death all around us, something he called ‘a deathless life’. If that might be an amazing experience for us already, there is more God has had in mind He wants to share with us. It is even His own resurrection power! Again, here are some quotes from TAS.
To him who overcomes I will give the privilege of sitting down with Me on My throne, as I also have overcome and have sat down with My Father on His throne. (Revelation 3:21 WNT)
We all have resurrection Life if we are joined to Christ as Resurrection, but there is something more than that; there is resurrection power, which carries us eventually (if it has its full outworking) to the Throne, and not all will come to the Throne. It is: “to him that overcomes.” Caleb, like Paul, and Paul, like Caleb, stood against the more general course of things amongst the Lord’s people. The majority were content with going so far as to the inheritance, possessing so much, and there staying and settling down. An unfinished course, a curtailed spiritual advance, an accepting of something less than what God had appointed and intended. The majority took that course, but Caleb was never content and he stood against the majority just as he had always stood against a majority that did not represent God’s full mind….
Spiritual leadership always involves loneliness. That is the cost of it. The overcomers will always be, so far as the larger Christian world is concerned, a lonely company, having to go on, with few able to follow. Caleb could not accept the popular voice, his heart was too set upon the Lord. He wholly followed the Lord, not the popular and general standard of Christian life. We may say that Caleb was the very embodiment of all that God meant the whole people to be. When you see Caleb you see what God wished all Israel to be, but all Israel did not come to the standard of Caleb. But the Lord gets in a Caleb the satisfaction of His heart. The Lord realizes His full thought in a Caleb, in the same way as He does in a Paul.
He is calling us, has called us, to share His Throne. It must be upon the same basis, that in virtue of His conquest, His victory, and by reason of the energy of the Holy Spirit, we also overcome.
To gain Christ, to gain that place with Christ, is not possible by mere appointment, office, being put there; it is only possible by spiritual and moral conquest in the energy of the Holy Ghost. Thank God we are not left to do it in our own strength, but there is the Holy Spirit sent forth from heaven to be the energy in us of spiritual ascendancy, spiritual conquest, and it is the changing of our being into the very moral and spiritual likeness of the Lord Jesus which is behind every bit of conflict which comes into our life.
That is the inclusive objective. Within that there are all the details, the things which have got to be overcome, within and without. We and we only, know what those things are. You know in your own make-up what has got to be overcome, and I know what is true in my case. We differ, the conflict is many-sided, the gains are to be in various directions. (1)

Susanne, it is such a blessing to see you overcome so many things in your life since I first met you six years ago. God has surely blessed us with a sister in whom the Spirit dwells and in whom there is no guile. No wonder you are able to experience the depth of this verse you shared today from that TAS writing. You have gone through many fears and anxieties, yet IN Christ you have overcome each one of them.
How many saints of the Lord have experienced the presence of Christ on His throne in THIS lifetime? We know of a few in the scriptures, but I am sure that the more of them (and us) that have overcome by going through deep trials and tribulations and being held steadfast by the faith OF Jesus Christ dwelling in us, the more and greater are the experiences of dwelling NOW in heavenly places IN Christ. Paul, John, Stephen are only three in the New Testament that come to mind, but I know that there are more. We must put behind us this “pie in the sky by and by,” mindset if we are to walk in true overcoming faith. Jesus and the Father are the I AM, not the “I will be” or the “I was.” It is a trick of the devil to get us to dwell in the wrong tree where we say, “If I only had…” or “If I just could…” NO, we are to be dwelling daily in the Tree of Life and in HIS Life there is Light that overcomes all our darkness.
“No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours [true overcomers] through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels can’t, and the demons can’t. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can’t keep God’s love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom 8:37-39, NLT)

Dear Michael,
I just found your wonderful reply between four spam mails from an eschatologically oriented page that keeps flooding my trash and my spam folder.
I really like what you wrote about God being the I AM, not the “I will be” or the “I was”. This is truly important for us to see!!
It is so good to know that we can overcome every fear through Christ’s Spirit – alone. I need to admit that I was always anxious and that I had A LOT of doubts as to God’s help regarding my concerns. Would He really set me free in this lifetime – or not? 🙄 Just lately as I had thought how boring and blah my spiritual life had become – nothing but faith and no supernatural experiences anymore (for years) – I had another very busy day filled with anything that one might call spiritual (worldly talk from almost every side). In the late evening after some hours on the freeway also, I finally sat down on the couch in the living room and tried to relax or even pray. Often times during the last years I gave up on longer prayers as it was so dry and empty.
But all of a suddden, as I had begun to read the Scripture you quoted from TAS’ daily devotional, I could not go on with reading after that part which says, “To him who overcomes I will give the privilege of sitting down with Me on My throne…”. Immediately I felt a strong pull in my heart, somehow upward, and I saw myself sitting on the left of Jesus on a very big and high elevated throne. Although I was VERY HAPPY to eventually see His face after many years (more clearly) once again, at the same time I felt embarrassed, too. “What am I doing here, Jesus?” I asked cautiously since I rather wanted to hide behind His back. 😉 I felt so unworthy of sitting there and I know we can only get there due to His righteousness, His grace, and His love. Our Lord is the only true overcomer!!! IN HIM we might possess everything, yet still, it is too much for me to imagine what THAT might mean in eternity. 🙄
I love this Scripture from Romans 8, Michael! Thank you! 🙂

“…being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ…” (Phil. 1; 6). I rely on that. Certainly, my own meager efforts are insufficient.
Much love,
