I really enjoyed reading Patrick Maina’s compassionate blog on how a friend of him became a tool to extend God’s love and grace to his wife. It is always encouraging for me to read about Christians who truly listen to Jesus’ voice! 🙂
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. (John 15:13)
The moment I saw Josh walk through the gate, I knew there was something terribly wrong. It did not take him more than five steps before breaking down in tears , proving my suspicion right. I had to run to support him from his staggering walk. As awkward as it felt at first, I found myself providing a shoulder for him to cry on.
African men are not supposed to cry, but Josh was no typical man. He had his stack of stories for his atypical life. Even then, it was the first time to see him cry and I could only try and fill up for myself what could have happened – he just kept mumbling words in the line of, “ndugu yangu, kwa nini haya? (my brother, why these?)”

I left a comment on Patrick’s blog.
“He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him.” 1Thes 5:10.
This verse he quoted really touched me. Somehow this struck me with just how eternal and unconditional His love really is.
Thanks so much for sharing this with us,
Michael ❤

You are very welcome as to the sharing, Michael.
Yes, indeed, God’s love is beyond anything imaginable. This love is especially beyond any human effort to seem to be(have) loving toward others. We can NEVER EVER achieve this kind of love flowing from us, to our enemies in particular, unless our old self has lost its appeal on us. Completely.
May our fallen nature step aside so that His light alone comes through.

It seems to me that it always comes back to the in-working of his cross, but it is worth it no matter how painful that is. Lord, please forgive all our complaining in the meantime. Amen

Yes, Michael, we need the in-working of His cross daily, whether we like it or not. I truly believe He forgives all our complaining as God knows our very hearts. What good is it to tell God how great He is and how much we agree with His paths if our heart secretly blames Him for letting us suffer that much? 🙄
I was just reminded of the following Scripture that might be comforting.
“But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.” (Mal 4:2 ESV)
