Landscape with Balaam (Joseph Anton Koch 1832/36) – German National Museum, Nürnberg

With compromising here I meant the temptation to mix the spirits in order to please people or ourselves more than God. In other words, God has told us to do something, but we begin to wonder after some time whether He might have changed His mind regarding the commandment once given. If God has shown us a certain direction we should walk in, we can be sure that He had good reasons why He led us that way. Whether we understand His guidance or not, it is always also for our spiritual protection if He warns us and tells us not to move along a way we might have chosen on our own. We read in the Book of Numbers,

“God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” (Num 23:19 ESV)

How can we go on with God and follow Jesus when our perception of God’s presence appears to be eclipsed for some time due to a number of trials?  🙄 When we are pressed from every side by unexpected twists of fate, by a stringent necessity to do something we would have rather avoided, and, as a result of these, by a deteriorating physical and mental health condition?  🙄

Coronavirus – A Call For Repentance

This won’t be a long article as I just wanted to offer you a longer part from Scripture in which we see that God, though He is loving, never ignores ongoing sin in our lives. Whether we call it discipline or chastening, at times God’s hand might feel like punishing us. In such a case it is good to surrender all our negative feelings, our anger, our fears and our doubts to Him. There is no need to try to hide anything before God since He who knows everything knows our hearts also. Below you can read God’s call for repentance.

Through Whom Does God speak Today?

Like me you might know a few gracious people with whom it is always easy to have dealings with. At other times, we might be confronted with some rude persons who unexpectedly utter words of truth.  🙄 Nonetheless, neither the gracious nor the veracious person must necessarily be a Christian. There are pleasant-natured people who are able to enjoy life and to be thankful for that, too. However, if you start to wonder whom they might owe their blessings in life, they remain silent or they evade the issue. Maybe, they tell you they were thankful toward life itself, toward Mother Nature, toward the universe or they believe in angels, instead.

At first, a special thanks to Anna Waldherr whose last comment on my latest post inspired me to deepen the issue of “sin” in a whole article. Those who read my blogs might know that I rarely focus on sin because many Christians rather need to hear about the grace and unconditional love of God in their lives. However, today you will read about something that has been bothering me lately. As wonderful as it is to speak and share about the love of God, there are times when we need to examine our lives as well.

Seeking the approval of Christ – only

As a foundation for my following deliberations, I’d like to adduce the following verses.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.” (Prv 3:5-8 ESV)

We may not believe that God always caresses His children. His permanent, perfect, and satisfying love is only for those who have repented of all their sins, that is, those who have “been perfected in love.” (1 Jn 4:18) In all other cases of not-yet-mature Christians, Jesus Christ is a chastener who also punishes sin if we remain in an unrepentant condition although He warned us to return to Him. For it is written,

FEAR NOT…

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him."
(John 3:16-17 ESV)
