What is the supreme evidence of the living God being amongst us? It is that we know Jesus Christ as triumphant over the power of death in our experience: for, having met death in its full power, its full force, its flood-tide, He triumphed. It was the flood-tide of death that was encountered at Calvary; death, in all that death means, something far beyond mere physical death, even all the terrible, wicked power of spiritual death. The Lord Jesus went into the flood of iniquitous death, and death’s power was taken from it, and it could not overflow. He broke the power of death and its curse, and made death stand back. “He tasted death in the behalf of every man“.
He has delivered us in His own victory over death. He stands for the testimony of a life which is incapable of being swallowed up by death. Thus the cry is, “O death, where is thy victory; O death where is thy sting?” “Thanks be unto God who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” What is the supreme evidence that the living God is amongst us? That we are enjoying the power of a deathless life, or in other words, are living in the blessing of Christ’s victory over the power of death. You have a life in your heart, in your spirit which cannot be overwhelmed and overpowered by death. When death is all around there is life. “Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you.” (emphasis added] (1)

I know that this victory over death is ours as we abide IN Christ, but I am not sure I have had the full revelation of it in my heart as of yet. Someone once said, “The longest 18 inches in God’s universe is the distance between the head and the heart.”

I know what you mean, Michael. Yes, the head and the heart go into different directions at times.
Proverbs 3:5-6 New International Version (NIV)
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.[a]

Praised God! Immanuel in Christ. In Jesus his son. As he as son was in Him. Teaching us His ways, His laws, His love. To believe in Him, His Word, His testimony. He was always found praying and doing the Father’s work. Changing our behavior, mannerism, attitude through actions of kindness and genuine love. Jesus lived his life in accordance with the Father’s law of loving Him with all our hearts, mind and spirit. And died a sinner, crucified~ death the punishment we deserve for our rebellion against His laws, His love and our selfishness in not caring. Died for us to learn His truth, learn there is salvation/eternal life through Him alone, because He loved us. Still loves us. advocating for everyone who trust Him. Telling us to follow Him.
Death could not hold Him.. in death He went down to she’ol to collect the keys of death and Hades Satan holds over our lives because of our disobedience to the Father’s moral code, written and secured by Him. The clever entity, disguise’s himself as an angel of light, confusing the public with his version of truth, the liar that he is. Be not deceive is Christ’s plea, telling us to stay true to the Father’s word.
True repentance is withdrawal from committing trespasses, from trashing His laws, and trampling His word, it’s abiding in Him. Through belief, trust, truly loving Him, prayerfully asking for help through the challenges, the hoops this man of sin has us go through. God’s strength is sufficient. Don’t loose hope, Victory is ours no matter what happens, He’s there for those who call out his name, who truly want to know Him, He reveals Himself. Faith in His truth and obedience to His commandments is us abiding in Him. Praying for His strength to hang on, His righteousness, His wisdom in everything we do and say daily. Death then is but a deep sleep for those who died/die staying true to Him, awaiting the final trumpet call of our King to awaken ~for the dead will rise first.
There are heavy trials yet to come and we must be prepared and in sync with Him to overcome them now and in the not so distant future.
Thanks to His grace, His gift, His Son Jesus’ trust, in completing the task given him. He’s our example. We are to emulate Him in conduct and action. Letting Him guide us for we’re not perfect yet. Our hearts tell Him who we belong to when we acknowledge Him, acknowledge our sins and turn from it. As long as one confesses with one’s mouth the name of Jesus our Christ and does the will of the Father…
Death has lost its sting and victory is ours, even if our mortal bodies dies, our spirit has connected with His. And at the trumpet call our bodies will rise from sleep to an immortal body. Just as He was Resurrected to life (the first fruit), so will everyone who died/dies believing in Him, trusting Him, following Him, knowing Him, kept His Word. God is with us and death has no hold on us when and at the last trumpet’s sound. Let’s remember this, our home is not in this chaotic world we’re currently occupying, but must live through demonstrating who we belong to. We are His children and must act like it, constantly praying in sincerity He will answer and give us what we need. Being grateful for His love and constant companionship, assurance. God bless us with staying true to Him!
Thank you Susanne, for sharing such provocative words from Mr. Sparks writings. God bless you wholeheartedly! And happy, healthy, prosperous new year.. 🙂 Maranatha!

My apologies Susanne for going overboard, should have realized it once I passed the first paragraph. It’s a tendency I have when a subject strikes my core. I’m like the battery- bunny commercial who keeps going and going. (lol)
My respond to the question posted, that intrigue me is both. A ‘revival’ and ‘living a deathless’ life. As one grows in knowing the Lord, your alive with hope and realize with His death and resurrection, death has lost its sting.
Thank you again for accepting my exposition in the spirit it was given. And thank you ever so much for your continue prayers, especially for my baby.
Much love in return along with my prayers for you and yours. Blessings.

No apology necessary, dear Aida. ❤ I have been “guilty” of the same thing time and again. 😉
This is absolutely true what you said in your second paragraph above: There is a day when we suddenly realize that all our fears regarding death have started to decrease and are disappearing more and more from our heart and mind. The sting of death that keeps all human beings in fear and thus makes a really restful life impossible IS GONE! Then a really trustful life in the Spirit through Christ with God can begin, a heavenly life given to us by His grace alone.
You are very welcome as to the prayers. Thank you for yours, too! 🙂

Thanks for this, Susanne, it’s so good that I just had to print the full message!
Truly (yet somehow easily forgotten) death is not merely something that some day puts an end to mortal life, but a domain that rules over all those in Adam from cradle to grave, as we see all around us on a daily basis; this, primarily, is what we are up against. But those in Christ may walk “in the power of a deathless life” all their days. That is the provision of God’s grace in Christ enabling us to be overcomers!

You are welcome, Allan. I am glad to hear you liked it. 😊 Indeed, the message is very long, isn’t it? But VERY good to hear and to let it sink in as well.
May God’s grace be with us!
