The first letter to the Corinthians, chapter 12, verses 7-11 ESV reads as follows,

(7) To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
(8) For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit,
(9) to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,
(10) to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.
(11) All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.

The Mystery of God’s Love

Some years ago I tried to put into words what usually cannot be put into words. Therefore I wrote several poems in German which hint to the spiritual reality of those things that are normally hidden to the physical eye. Although the natural mind cannot grasp the depths of God, His Spirit is able to strike a chord in us that finally will make us grasp the beauty of divine love.

John the Baptist said,

“I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” (Mt 3:11 ESV)

Although I had heard about the Baptism in the Holy Spirit in the Pentecostal camp before and I had indeed found some hints in John of the Cross’s autobiographic entries as well, yet as IT would happen to me, I had no clue what THIS could be. Therefore I asked God to help me grasp that overwhelming experience that finished my justification process, during which I had been feeling my own sinfulness to an increased degree as a very painful fire burning in my heart for many weeks in 2008.
Our God was so gracious to point me to Charles G. Finney’s autobiography where I found my own experiences confirmed. Finney who was an American Presbyterian minister and leader in the in the United States in the 19th century offered a very helpful narrative that answered many of the questions I had at that time.

Seeking God…..Why oh Why?

I have just been pondering on why I don’t want to abandon my prayer habits for a longer time.

Admittedly, there are days when I have no strength to seek Him. Since I have been chronically ill for almost all my life, there are times when I am so weak that I need Him to (first) meet me through prayer. Nonetheless, today I have been wondering what might be the reasons that make me keep searching for always more of Him.

As I awoke with a headache, feeling nauseated, with abdominal cramps and fatigued [all symptoms are more or less chronic], my first thought was,

“My God, I need You!!!”

Empty-minded Susanne again…..Hell-bent on writing…..but WHAT?

Hmm………… I think I could write about the connection between The Eternal Word of God (Rev 19:13) that is Jesus Christ, the spoken prophetic word of God (cf. Acts 8:14, for example; Rev 20:4), and the written word of God, the Bible (2 Tim 3:16).

From my own experience I fully endorse that we should seek Christ first. If we have come to know Him, that is, to love Him who is LOVE, He prompts us to study the Bible, and thus end up loving His Word, too [no Bible reading plan necessary, then 😉 ]. Actually, who would not love the words written by the one whom he or she deeply loves? Has anyone ever fallen in love and NOT loved a letter written by their lover?
