GOD IS LOVE
(Source: http://www.anaheller.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/58860011.jpg)

It is not the loveable person that needs to be loved. It is the unlovable person, the clamoring child, the rebellious adult, the nasty friend, the raging parent, in a nutshell, it is the SINNER that needs to be healed. If we react to misbehavior by speaking mere words only, they might be able to bring across what we mean, but without love they will never touch the heart of someone who has gone wild. Well, “words” alone are based on knowledge… what we think we know or what we feel. But if our words are not tempered with grace, they can wound and kill. For it is written,

A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, but he who is slow to anger quiets contention. (Proverbs 15:18 RSVA)

Know this, my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger, for the anger of man does not work the righteousness of God. (James 1:19-20 RSVA)

I found three quotes from Gerhard Tersteegen (*) today of which I think that they are quite enlightening with regards to our true Christian “duties”. From my own experience I can confirm that God freed me from so many things of which I had thought I should do them, either because others expected me to do so or I demanded it of myself. It has been a very long struggle and I am not yet through it all, but sometimes I feel a kind of very quiet peace I have not known before. Immersed into a silence where spoken words and even thoughts come to an end, I discover the subtle power of the omnipresent God that is reflected by all creation. And out of the blue, your whole being knows what LIFE is all about…
Q: “How do we get there?”

Attaining Maturity of Faith

Christian Love Quote

Christian Love Quote

Indeed, I have just read the best and shortest definition of what faith really is. A few words that explain why so many who only know the Bible are still struggling with getting more faith when they read and reread written promises of God. However, their faith does not really grow and they cannot attain spiritual maturity. Even praying over those aforementioned Scriptures, i.e. promises, alone does rarely help anyone. Why? Here comes the definition.

Basically, the Body of Christ should consist of many different members with many different gifts and we should all submit to one another according to the gifts the others have been given. That is the way the church initially was meant to be when the first Christians had no Bible as we know it today. We read in 1 Corinthians chapter 12,

The old self cannot really love…

Well… Which Self to Choose? 😉
(Cartoon taken from http://mylifeintupperware.blogspot.de/2012/04/feeding-right-dog.html)

“If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” (Mt 7:11 ESV)

Boy, who would have thought that our Old Adam and Eve are evil persons who can do good things, to be sure, yet cannot truly love due to their immanent wretchedness? But wait…can’t they love somehow, though? We know from our own experience that every human being can fall in love which is a wonderful thing, however, it’s still selfish love. Since as soon as the beloved person rejects the one who still looks through rose-colored glasses, love as it was before is over. And that we love our children is normal, too, isn’t it? Even if they reject us one day.

Is it possible to see God? Can you imagine to meet your Creator before you die? If someone already had visions or dreams where he met God, Jesus, or other saints, he might know that such experiences exist. Biblically speaking, just think about Jesus’ transformation on a high mountain where he could be seen with Moses and Elijah or let us consider the blinding conversion experience of Saul, later called the apostle Paul. However, such events happen rarely.

Called…..and chosen

Following HIM (Photo by Susanne Schuberth)

“So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.” (Mt 20:16 KJV)

I have been thinking about the terms being “called” and “chosen” for a long time now. Already many years ago, I heard people say that they were called by Jesus

(1) due to the testimony of other people or
(2) because they were listening to a preacher’s sermon or
(3) since they felt God speaking to their own heart

And I have been wondering what the Bible really means by being “called”

Is God’s Love experiential – or not?

Love-Inspirational-Daily

“Whoever could become a loving person who had never before experienced love in their life?”

If someone was neglected as a child, they will hunger for love and appreciation later. And it’s only natural to seek to get it from other human beings. But what will happen if they do not get the love he or she urgently wants to have? Won’t they end up having doubts about the meaning of life and finally end up in despair?

FEAR NOT…

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him."
(John 3:16-17 ESV)
